Questions?

What is a sworn translation?2025-12-17T09:58:24-05:00

A sworn translation (traducción jurada) is a legally valid translation required by Spanish consulates, immigration authorities, courts, and public administration. Unlike certified translations used in the US, sworn translations must be performed by a translator officially accredited by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

All our sworn translations include the sworn translator’s Ministry accreditation number, the digital signature issued by the FNMT (Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre), and a copy of the original document. They are accepted for visa applications, residency permits, academic recognition, and all official procedures in Spain and the EU.

How much does it cost?2025-12-11T13:08:05-05:00

The price for a sworn translation from English to Spanish is $39.00 per page. No hidden fees.

Everything is included: the sworn translator’s certification with their accreditation number from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and their digital signature from the FNMT. No additional costs.

Each page may contain up to 250 words or fewer including numbers. Pages may be letter size (8.5″ x 11″), A4 or smaller and one-sided.

Do you offer sworn translations in other languages?2025-12-12T14:19:17-05:00

No. We currently provide sworn translations only from English into Spanish and Spanish into English. We do not offer sworn translations between other language pairs.

Who will translate my document?2025-12-11T13:10:20-05:00

Your document will be translated by a sworn translator (traductor jurado) officially accredited by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

To obtain this accreditation, translators must pass a rigorous examination administered by the Spanish Government. Upon passing, they receive an official identification number and sworn translator credential authorizing them to translate from a specific language.

Most sworn translators hold a university degree in Translation and Interpreting or a related field, ensuring both linguistic expertise and professional competence.

Why isn’t your company on the official list of sworn translators?2025-12-12T14:27:50-05:00

All of our sworn translators are accredited by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and are included in the official register.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs grants the sworn translator designation to each sworn translator individually once they have passed the relevant exams. It does not grant accreditation to companies — not to us nor to any other company.

All of our translators are accredited by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs; therefore, all of our sworn translations are valid before any Spanish public authority.

How will my sworn translation be delivered to me?2025-12-12T09:03:48-05:00

Your sworn translation will be delivered in PDF format via email, ready for immediate submission.

The PDF you receive is the original, legal document. It contains a valid electronic signature as required by Spanish law (Orden AUC/213/2025), which includes the sworn translator’s name, registration number, and accredited language. This digital signature has full legal validity and eliminates the need for physical stamps or seals.

Spanish authorities accept this format. You can verify the signature authenticity at valide.redsara.es.

How are the pages counted?2025-12-10T19:54:55-05:00

When you order a sworn translation, the most significant variable is how the pages of the document are calculated. We take into consideration both the number of physical pages in your original document and the total word count.

Each page may contain up to 250 words. Pages may be letter size (8.5″ x 11″), A4 or smaller and one sided.

For example: A project with 2 physical pages that each contain 500 words (1,000 words total), is calculated as 4 pages (1,000 words ÷ 250 = 4 pages).

What happens if I don’t count the number of pages correctly?2025-12-10T13:47:33-05:00

Don’t worry. Our team reviews each order individually. If the number of pages is greater, we’ll contact you with instructions on how to proceed. If you ordered pages in excess, we’ll issue you a refund using the same payment method.

How are currencies and units of measurement handled?2025-12-12T14:00:14-05:00

In a sworn translation, currency values cannot be converted; the currency shown in the original document must be maintained.

If you need the monetary amount to be shown in a different currency, the original document must include the conversion or a note indicating the exchange rate at the time the document was issued. In such cases, only the exchange-rate note will be translated.

The same applies to units of measurement, no conversions can be made, such as:

  • inches to centimeters
  • gallons to liters
  • miles to kilometers
Do you provivde apostille services?2025-12-12T14:04:31-05:00

No, we do not provide apostille services. However, here’s what you need to know before ordering your sworn translation:

The apostille must be obtained before the translation, not after. This is a common mistake that can delay your visa application.

Correct process:

  1. Get your document apostilled in the state in which it was issued (or through the U.S. Department of State for federal documents).
  2. Send us the apostilled document.
  3. We translate both the document and the apostille.

Spanish consulates require the sworn translation to include the apostille, so both must be translated as one complete document.

How do you ensure quality?2025-12-10T19:49:27-05:00

All our translators hold official accreditation from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, obtained by passing a government-administered examination. This ensures your translation meets the legal standards required by Spanish authorities.

We also pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service throughout the process. Don’t just take our word for it — take a look at any of the more than 700 reviews we have received from satisfied clients.

How do you keep my information secure?2025-12-10T14:27:14-05:00

All your information is transmitted using SSL/TLS encryption.

We never receive, store or keep your credit card information. Your credit card information is processed externally by Stripe. The same company that manages payments for companies such as Uber, Lyft, Target, Blue Apron, SquareSpace, Slack and Spotify (to name a few).

U.S. Language Services has a strict confidentiality policy. We understand that in certain cases, given the sensitivity of the information to be translated, some clients require we sign a specific confidentiality agreement (NDA). We would be happy to sign your NDA.

How can I pay?2025-12-10T14:41:18-05:00

We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna, and Cash App.

We also offer flexible payment options. With Klarna or PayPal, you can pay in interest-free installments over several months — no extra cost to you.

In what currency are your prices?2025-12-10T14:42:20-05:00

All prices — both in the online store and in quotes sent via email — are indicated in U.S. dollars (USD).
